Families make some of their most important and emotional decisions based on what they read here. We take that seriously. This page explains how we research, write, and review our content, and how we keep it accurate.
Who writes and reviews our content
Our guidance is produced and reviewed by the Miami Senior Advisor Care Team. Care-type explanations, cost ranges, and benefit guidance are checked against primary sources before publication, and our team's day-to-day work placing South Florida families informs what we write.
The sources we rely on
We anchor factual claims to authoritative, primary sources: the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and FloridaHealthFinder for licensing and inspections; the Florida Department of Elder Affairs for state programs; CMS for Medicare and Medicaid; the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for veterans benefits; AARP and the Genworth Cost of Care Survey for cost context; and the Alzheimer's Association for dementia care. Florida statutes Chapter 429 (assisted living and adult family-care homes) and Chapter 400 (nursing homes) govern the regulatory framework we describe.
How we handle pricing and timeliness
Cost ranges reflect 2026 South Florida market conditions and are reviewed regularly; actual pricing varies by provider and care level, and we always recommend getting current rates in writing. When programs or rules change, we update the affected pages.
Our independence
We're a paid referral service — provider partners compensate us only when a placement matches. That does not buy favorable coverage. We refer families only to providers with active, clean AHCA licenses, and we tell families honestly when something isn't a good fit. Our recommendations are based on the family's needs, not on which provider pays.
